A brief glance at the scoreboard may suggest that Nigeria cruised to victory, with Mozambique rarely threatening the ‘Super Eagles’ defence. Drogba wins BBC African Footballer of the Year award

Chelsea and Ivory Coast star Didier Drogba has been crowned the 2009 African Fooballer of the Year. Ths striker beat off competition from fellow teammate Michael Essien, Samuel Eto’o and Yaya Toure on his way to the title.

Seven Injured, Driver Dead as Togo team attacked in Angola

Shocking news coming out of Africa prior to the Cup of African Nations starting on Sunday. The Togolese national team have been attacked by Angolan rebels on the border with the Congo. The attack happened just after players entered Cabinda, one of the four tournament host venues.
