ANC2012 Tournament Preview
Every Premier League manager’s nightmare, but spectators and a scouts dream. With some of the best and hottest worldwide talents on display the African Nations Cup is always a delight to watch. The tournament illustrates the strength of talent Africa can offer top clubs around the world.
With competition in the tournament improving hugely every two years that it’s staged a lot of teams will feel they can make a push to win it. Ivory Coast always seems to be favourites as they feature an array of Premier league stars such as Yaya Toure and Didier Drogba. Senegal may feel they can make good progress this time with one of the hottest strikers around leading their attack; Demba Ba couldn’t have entered this competition in better shape or form and I can’t wait to watch how he performs.
The beauty with this competition is that you just don’t know who will upset who. Ego’s aside this comes down to who wants it more and that’s why smaller countries get a lot of success in this competition.

Excitement in Gabon & Equatorial Guinea is rife this year as there will be a new winner; Egypt have been extremely successful in this competition over the years and the holders failure to qualify has shocked everyone in the football world. Furthermore, former champions Cameroon and Nigeria both also failed to make the 2012 tournament finals, which offer a great opportunity for qualified sides to push for the trophy.
What I love about this competition is finding a footballing gem who has taken their moment to pave the way to bigger things. We all love to watch the Toures, Drogba’s, Tiote’s but finding someone that isn’t proven is utterly magnificent.
