Ghana beat Burkina Faso on Tuesday, meaning Ivory Coast top the three team Group B, with Ghana as runners-up. As runners up Ghana will play hosts Angola in the first Quarter Final.

Egypt were confirmed in the knock-out stage early, with a 100% record after two games in Group C, they also won their third and are joined by Nigeria who finished as group runners-up.

Why Zambia topped Group D, Cameroon qualified & Gabon are out

Group D had the tightest of finishes, unlucky Gabon miss out with three teams on equal points. In this situation the teams are compared on just their records against each other, which were as follows:

Zambia W 1 L 1 F 4 A 4
Cameroon W 1 L 1 F 3 A 3
Gabon W 1 L 1 F 2 A 2

So excluding their games against Tunisia, Zambia top the group and Cameroon are second.

I feel sorry for Garbon even against all expectations the missed out and i guess that was from the goal for rules that affected them.

Anyway Nigeria -Zambia encounter will be quite a delight to watch and also Cameroun -Egypt another cracker, why is Cameroun just keep having tough opposition each time the try to move forward. i guess that is the way things goes these day as the tournament have really livened up more than expectation.

  5. E.E. Sona Says:

well! is Cameroon’s time to put an end to the Egyptian humiliation over them. Is true that Cameroon had a narrow escape in to the quarter finals but you will also bear with me that Cameroon has never been easy to defeat when it comes to the quarter final level. Lets keep our fingers cross and watch Egypt crumble to Cameroon by 2 goals to 1. This I know will come to pass as I know my country Cameroon and the spirits behind football.

Thank God Nigeria has made it to the quarter finals, i hope we would learn our lessons and put our acts together this time around to get to the semis. Gone are the days when you have the super teams and the underdogs. Now a days every team has got equal chance. Its only those that deserves it that will sail to the next round.
Anyway i wish Nigeria best of luck. Not withstanding we would like to see the best of soccer in Africa, no sentiment.

I’m seeing Cameroon beating Egypt while Nigeria beats Zambia..then miracles shall come to play during the semi finals, but the outcome of it all will be that Cameroon is Playing Nigeria in the Finals of the African Cup of Nations 2010 to make a dream come true and to also prove to the world the final destination of the World Cup…

  19. Dr Nemo Says:

I don’t really have so much confidence in Nigeria anymore because their performance so far is nothing to really write home about. I guess the vast majority of their fans and supporters have also lost that aspiration and confidence too. But they can still reinvigorate that hope and confidence by learning from their past mistakes and also by proving to their Zambian counterpart that they are Super indeed . Go Super Eagle, I know you can do it this time!

  20. supermvpboy Says:

I think it is really time for the lions to put an end to what the eyptians have always don to them. So this is high time for them to do something

  21. supermvpboy Says:

I think it is time for the lions to put an end to what the egyptians have always done to them so i just want them to do their best and also to tell the egpytians that they are no more the people they use to know that they are now different peole

  22. Billen Says:

Nigeria should be careful coz Zambia springs surprises these days. Cameroon will likely win coz Egypt is sticking to some historical nonsense about beating Cameroon at strategic matches, wheareas Camerron is aware of this uphill task, hence pschologically prepared and her squad has a power-pact team spirit.

  23. Fred Says:

I feel sorry for all the nigerian funs out there. Football has become very dynamic yet our Nigerian friends still dwell on names and past record. Reality is, Zambia are not amoung the highly rated teams but are playing some very well co ordinated football. Go Zambia! Show the so called eagles that only high fliers deserve the name ‘Eagles’. Not CLOWNS :-)

  24. philip ndumbe Says:

well for the great Cameroon, i tell u is been a kind of imbalance equation for between himself and the Egyptians.Cameroon is a team where one can not predict as i suggest.but for the simple fact of that imbalance equation, this time around my hopefully prediction comes as Cameroon leading to 3 – 1 to enjoy his great moment of the final with any other country that can prove though in his own ability.

  25. DELE Says:

Well,we thank God for aiding us all through to this quarter final stage but my problem like any other concerned Nigerians is: what is Yakubu Ayegbemi doing inthe Nigerian Team???.He could have made a good career as a boxer or a wrestler than a footballer. He is too heavy, lazy and very, very stupid to be a footballer.Mybe he gives money to his coach, shuaibu to get a call-up,who knows?.Mikel obi should go and be playing for his club that mediocre style he displays by holding on to the ball everytime killing the players seal to move towards the opponents goal area.He too does not deserve a call up to eagles camp.
One question remains, “ARE THERE NO BETTER GUYS IN NIGERIA WHO WANT TO PUT ON THE JERSEYS?.Enough is enough,Eagles handlers should know the time is up when they should forget big names or palyers playing for big clubs but have nothing to offer practically.
Anyway,Amodu Shuaibu will have himself to blame when he losses his job.

  26. JBOYLALATA Says:

Naija is bam that we are still in the may GOD help us in todays match and the boys have to play well to keep us in the game….

  27. JBOYLALATA Says:

GO…………… SUPER EAGLES FLY HIGH WITH MANY GOALS..

  28. Nnamdi Says:

nigeria must won on finaal and they will carry the cup but if they won

  29. Nnamdi Says:

i love to see nigeria won on final but our defensive is not good and Dele i dey fill you for tha your comment against yakubu.
